Winter 2020
EDUC 4030- Practicum II
A 12 week practicum at Mother Teresa School, teaching 100% for 6 of those weeks. This practicum requires unit planning and lesson planning for each subject taught. This class had an option Extended Practicum Experience that I took advantage of. During the EPE, I went into the classroom the full first week of school to learn about the rules and procedures that occur during the first week of school. After this, I went once a week for a half day until January 20, 2020 when I started going full time.
EDUC 4104- Curriculum Instruction in Teaching Music
This class had many different components to it. We learned about different basic musical notation and hand signals that are taught in an elementary music class. The were different insturments that were learned during this class, piano, ukulele, recorder, as well as singing and conducting. The big project was creating a musical and performing it in less then 8 days. From music to production to lighting to costumes and props, it was all created in those 8 days.
EDUC 4201- Integrating Ideas, Values and Praxis
During this class, we met with different superintendants and professions to help gain an understanding about what to expect after graduation. This class has a reasearch project that goes along with it.

EDUC 4325- The Impact of Social Issues in Education and Schooling
4 During this class we learned about the social issues that will impact the social issues in our classroom. This class also taught us many different resources to use to support different students. This class had many different aspects to it such as a Passion Project where we went to Southview school to teach students about a passion and do a project with those students. This class also has IDI training, this section of the class was very formative to learn about different cultures and what to expect from students who come from other countries into our classroom.
EDUC 2375- Effective Assessment-Measurement and Evaluation
This class had an 18 hour practicum. We went into our classrooms to look at the different assessment that we see our Mentor Teaching doing in our classroom. This class has a focus strictly on assesment and how to properly assess students. During this class we presented an ED Talk to our class on a hot topic in education. I presented on Differentiated Assessment. During this class we gained many tools in our teacher toolbox to learn how to assess students for learning.
EDUC 4107- Curricuum Instruction in Teaching Social Studies
During this class, it was focused on Social Studies in the elementary classroom. We created a unit plan as well as focused on Critical challeneges and how to bring them into the classroom. This class also included a resource assignment and this is where we looked at different resources that are appliciable in our social studies unit.
ENGL 3353- North American Indigenous Literature
In this class, we focused on looking at different Indigenous literature including poems and novels. These novels and poems were good to allow us to learn about Indigenous culture and the hardships they have encountered throughout their life.
PHYL 2520- Introductory and Intermediate Coaching
During this class we learned how to coach a team in a variety of sports. We created practice plans as well as did a practice with the class with a sport of out choice. This class helped gaining an understanding of what to do and what to expect while coaching while following the guidelines from the NCCP. After this course was completed a certificate was issued.

EDUC 3105- Curriculum Instruction in Teaching Physical Education
4 week practicum (once per week) teaching physical education to grade 3 students at River Heights. During this class we learned about different procedures and permissions to go through while teaching physical education for the year. This inlcudes parent permission forms, budgeting for field trips, year planning, unit planning, and lesson planning.
EDUC 3101- Curriculum Instruction in Teaching Art
Focusing on teaching Art in the elementary classroom. During this class we looked at different curriculums including: Saskatchewan, Alberta (new and old), Ontario, and British Columbia and comparing them. This class was very hands on and project based. We had weekly drawings to show improvement throughout the weeks as well as weekly artifacts to bring in to symbolize our learning. We worked with different mediums along with different grade level projects in this class.
EDUC 34361- Exception Students, Special Needs and Inclusive Schooling
Focusing on inclusion in the classroom. This class was based around Shelley Moore's book One Without the Other:Stories of Unity Through Diversity and Inclusion. During this class we learned how to create an ISP as well as learn different ways to include all students in the classroom. This class was hands on and allowed first hand expeirence.
ENGL 3382- Textualities/Sexualities
In this class, we explored many different films throughout different decades while looking at different parts of cinema used to create each film.
ENGL 2299- Children's Literature Imagining the Real
During this class we explored different chidlren's books and the authors that wrote those books. During this class, we looked at different books that can be brought into the classroom in all grades of elementary.
Fall 2018
EDUC 3010- Practicum 1
5 weeks at Crestwood Elementary School in grade four, teaching 50% of the time. Teaching subjects such as: Science: Waste in Our World, Social: Alberta: A Sense of the Land, Art, Physical education, and the Novel study Wonder by R.J. Palacio.
EDUC 3103- Curriculum Instruction in Teaching English Language Arts
Focusing on literacy in the elementary classroom. During this class, we went to SAAMIS immigration and helped teach english to people. We also looked at many different types of literature during this class by making a book log that is available for every grade.
EDUC 3106- Curriculum Instruction in Teaching Science.
Focusing on science in the elementary classroom. During this class, we had the opportunity to do the PRAXIS Science Olympics. The booth that I had to do was grade two: Boats and Buoyancy. Science was also a focus subject during our community classroom assignment.
EDUC 3108- Curriculum Instruction in Teaching Mathematics.
Focusing on mathematics in the elementary classroom. During this class we learning many ways for all students to learn math. We were introduced to many different manipulatives, as well as many different ways to teach math effectively.
EDUC 3352- Aboriginal Cultural Dimensions and Classroom Applications
Learning about First Nation, Metis, and Indigenous people and how to bring their culture into the classroom.During this class, we learned many different ways to teach and bring in Indigenous culture into the classroom. We were also introduced to many different people in the First Nation community that taught us, first hand, about their culture.

EDTS 371- Language Development and Literacy in Schools
Focusing on literacy and in depth research with literacy in the classroom. This class had a 10 week half day per week practicum that was literacy focused. This class will help me become a good teacher because it taught different strategies to teach literacy to all ages. This class also went into some of the history behind development.
KNES 281- Introduction to Movement Activities of Children & Youth
This class focused on movements and physical education for elementary schools. This class had a two hour lab once per week to get hands on experience with different activities to do in pays-ed. This class will help become a great physical education teacher because it gave me a large variety of games to play as well as different movements to teach students.
GNED 210- Scientific and Mathematical Literacy for the Modern World
This class was focused on math and science literacy in the world around us. This class was good to see how math and science can be integrated with each other in real world connections. This class will help me become a great teacher because teaching different subjects integrated is what is happening in education today.
GNED 220- Aesthetic Experience and Ideas
This class was focused on different children's books and discussed further meanings behind certain books such as: The Paper Bag Princess, The Little Prince, The Secret Garden, and many more. This class was interesting because there were many pieces of literature that I would not personally pick out, but looking at this literature and the meanings behind it was informing and was a good way to get out of my comfort zone with literature.
ENGL 301- Survey of English Literature II
This class focused on literature after the 1800's. We looked at different literature in each period of time and focused on different world issues such as, woman's rights and people of colour and their rights. This class looked into many different types of literature from different times. This class will help me become a great teacher because it taught me different points of view about different issues during the time of the book, such as woman's rights movement.

EDTS 325- Tools for Teaching and Learning in the Digital Classroom
Focusing on learning the strategies for learning and teaching in a classroom environment using technology. This class taught me many different uses that technology can have in the classroom. It showed me many different websites, how to use technology such as smart notebook, youtube, etc.
MICO 191- Introduction to Microcomputers
This class taught all about Microsoft technologies. This is an important tool to have in the classroom because of how important technology is becoming in education. It is important that I have an extensive knowledge about what I am teaching students.
PHIL 201- Problems of Philosophy
Focused on looking at the problems of philosophy, personal identity, time travel, and free will. This class taught me to question everything and helped me gain the skill of critical thinking. This class will help me become a great teacher because it is important to be critical when teaching, so students are challenged in many different ways.
RELI 205- The Nature of Religion
Focused on the world view of different religions. Philosophical topics including after death, ultimate reality, evil, and existence. This class taught me a lot about different religions. It gave me an understanding about all religions which is important in a classroom because there are so many diverse religions and cultures that will be in my classroom.
ENGL 203- Reading and Writing about Literature II
Focusing on reading and writing about different types of literature post nineteenth century. This class introduced me to many pieces of literature that I personally would not have picked out myself. It taught me to not only read the text, but find the meaning that is not so obvious in the text.

ENGL 252- Introductory Composition
This class taught me a lot of review about grammar and helped me become a strong writer. This will help me become a good teacher because having good grammar to teach students will help them thrive in the classroom.
NURT 200- Introduction to Nutrition
This class talked a lot about nutrition and wellness for all ages. As a teacher, students will look up to me and it is important to practice good nutrition with students.
GNED 220- Texts and Ideas
This class taught me a lot about shaping my beliefs, it was a class that introduced me to a lot of different literature that helped gain my world view on subjects I did not have a lot of knowledge in.
EDTS 321- Education Psychology
This class focused a lot about the development of a child and why they are the way they are. It looked at all aspects about students, their parents, the way their mind works, cognitive skills. It was a rich, in depth class that taught me a lot about children and their development.
EDTS 234- Professional Dimensions of Teaching
This class was an introduction to planning and more about what it is like to be a teacher. It came with a 10 week practicum, half days, once per week. This class also had school visits, to go to and learn about how other schools do things. During the practicum I taught my first lesson to grade 1's at Vincent Massey school.

KNES 240- Adapted Physical Education
This class, I learned all about different disabilities as well as auto-immune diseases. This class had a lab once a week where we had students with disabilities to come in and play physical education games. This taught us how to adapt different games to each student with a specific disability that they might have.
GNED 230- Citizenship without Borders
This class taught me about many different world views that I was not previously educated about. It looked at different issues such as black lives matter movement, woman's rights, etc. During this class, I learned a lot about different issues that gave me a stronger world view.
FREN 200- Beginners French
During this class, I learned all of the basics of French, this class was a review as I took french throughout my previous school years, but this class will help me become a teacher because there are many different elementary schools that teach beginners french to their students.
EDTS 232- Professional Dimensions of Teaching
This class taught me the basics of being a teacher. It came with a 10 week half day once a week practicum. This class was good to get my foot in the door with teaching and learning about the career that I am going into.
HIST 230- An Introduction to History: Canada, Origins to 1867
This class taught me a lot about Canada's history before confederation. This class will help me become a teacher because it is important that I know Canada's history and how it became a country.
